What Has Things is, in a paragraph anyone may quote, with the wordmark, the palette and the working parts of the interface. Everything on this page is the thing itself, not a picture of it.

In a sentence

Has Things is an index of what is on tonight in 85 cities across Canada, the United States and Mexico. It reads 419 public sources — venue calendars, ticket sellers, libraries and cinemas — and puts the night on one page, with the time, the room and who said so. It is free, carries no advertising, and publishes its whole index as open data.

The wordmark

The period leads and takes the accent; “Has” is the neutral; “Things” takes the accent again. The colour does the work a space would otherwise do, which is why the two words close up. On the slab the accent inverts — a deep vermilion on paper, a bright one on ink — so the mark holds its contrast either way.

Set in Caveat, shipped as outlines

The face is Caveat Bold. It is drawn once into SVG paths by scripts/build-wordmark.ts and committed, so the family is never sent to a reader: the mark costs about 5 KB of path data instead of a 51 KB font file and a second request. This page is the one place the live font loads, for comparison.

SVG is the one to keep: it is the mark itself and scales to anything. Every link here downloads rather than opening, so a right-click is not required.

Ready for an upload form

The same mark, composed on its ground at the sizes profile and link forms ask for, with the clear space already around it. Built by scripts/build-brand-assets.ts and committed, so they change only when the mark does — and so nobody has to screenshot the header to get an avatar.

The weather badge

One badge per city night, straddling the masthead's edge. These are the real component, given a forecast that exists only to draw them — so the six conditions can be seen at once, which never happens on a city page. The temperature is knocked out of the disc: the digits are the page showing through, which is why the disc changes with the theme and the digits never do.

Size and category

The dot grows with the size of the night; the marks name the kind of thing. Both are the components the filter bars and the table use, at the size they use them.

Using it

• Keep the two tones and their order. A one-colour setting is fine where colour is not available — use the mono files.
• Do not re-space it. The words close up on purpose; the colour separates them.
• Give it clear space of at least the height of the mark on every side.
• On a coloured ground, use whichever mono file holds contrast rather than tinting the two-tone version.
• The name is Has Things, two words. The mark writes it closed up; running text does not.

Credit

“Has Things” with a link to hasthings.com is all that is asked, in print or online. Listings carry the venue or seller that published them and that credit should travel with them. The forecast is Open-Meteo's under CC BY 4.0 and carries its own attribution in the feeds.
